“Some of the Bushman myths and stories are connected with rain, and it is said that the spirit that is responsible for clouds that make rain would send out two forms of cloud. They called the one a masculine rain, it came in thunder and lightening and released the rain with great force, but the other was tender pervasive and consistent like a woman and fell gently transforming the desert. – Without water he could not possibly survive and so intimate and profound was this relationship between the bushman and the rain that in periods of long drought he claimed that his woman like the earth went sterile and could bear no children” Sir Laurens Van Der Post (Testament to the Bushman – “Women the Provider”)
